Insomnia: A Sleep Disorder where Sleeping is Tough

The sleep we have in night, helps our body to get relaxed from day’s work and get ready for another day. Falling asleep is such a piece of cake. But for some this is not the case. Falling sleep and remaining asleep throughout night is tough for them such person is called insomniac and has disorder insomnia. What is Insomnia? Insomnia is a sleep disorder where in person experiences trouble in falling to sleep and stay sleep throughout night. Insomnia can be of episodic that is short term last up to three weeks or be long term that is chronic insomnia. Person with insomnia sleep gets up in short while, doesn’t sleep full night as we do. Falling to sleep is also a hard task.

About insomnia poor sleep or the lifestyle habits are known to cause insomnia or in case of people who have make it worse. Such as people who don’t follow a sleeping time table and go to sleep at different times each night, such people develop insomnia. Excessive day time napping is also a cause. Working shifts these day are leading cause of our lifestyle which cause insomnia. People who spend too much time in bed while awake, use mobiles, laptops, watch television all can cause insomnia. The eating habits also affect our sleeping pattern. Drinking too much coffee or consuming foods which have caffeine cause sleeping disorder. Heavy smoking, doing drugs, consuming alcohol also are known cause for insomnia. Person who doesn’t exercise or doesn’t work much doesn’t get that tired that mind alerts body to relax and sleep. Other causes of insomnia include mental health issues such as Anxiety disorder, Bipolar disorder, depression etc. Medical condition of thyroid too causes insomnia. Stress too is a cause.

There is cure for insomnia. For this it is vital to know what causal factors behind insomnia are. It is important to know is there any medical factor causing it? Person’s lifestyle, his sleeping habits etc. are to be known which can cause insomnia. Changing such sleeping habits, or lifestyle change can solve insomnia problem. Medications are given for insomnia, but generally doctors are against it as they have many side effects. For insomnia treatment many home remedies can be done which are effective as well as side effects free. But if the person has stress, mental pressure and certain problems which is causing to sleeplessness then you must solve that first.

  3. Insomnia can be a serious problem. Recent researches have proved that stress relief, light exercise and changing eating and sleeping habits can go a long way in curing a person of this problem without having to resort to sleeping pills.
    Most of these pills are habit forming and should be avoided as far as possible until they are absolutely necessary.
