Angelina Jolie opts for double mastectomy when she had healthy breast. Angeline Jolie one of the top most rates actress, a style diva and Czarina in Hollywood has opted for removal of breast came to be one of the most trending news which has been received mix reviews worldwide. Most actresses undergo the knife and surgery to enhance their breast and various vital assets. But Angelina Jolie took a wise decision to remove her breasts.
Doctors have given details as to reasons behind the Angelina Jolie’s breast surgery. Angelina Jolie’s mother died has the breast cancer and she died due to ovarian cancer. Angeline Jolie’s maternal grandmother too had the ovarian cancer. This gave strong evidence that Angelina inherits the genetic risk which led the actress to take decision to undergo knife to remove both of her healthy breasts to avoid the same fate as her mother.
Angelina Jolie who is known for her humanity work and is UN Ambassador revealed that she carried a defective gene called BRCA1 gene which puts her on high risk of development of the breast cancer and the ovarian cancer. She underwent the surgery of mastectomies in February 2013 and followed it by the reconstruction implants in the April 2013. The gene is said to give woman a 87 percent of lifetime risk of development of the breast cancer and 54 percent of the ovarian cancer.
It is yet unclear yet about Jolie’s decision to remove her ovaries. Jolie who has written a op-ed piece in the New York Time that she opted for the breasts first because they prove to be at higher risk of developing cancer.
Removal of the breasts and ovaries leave a very little risk of development of caner and dramatically lowers the risk.
Jolie underwent three operations that were done through crease underneath her each breast. Brad Pitt Angelina Jolie’s partner was present at each operation and had been by her side.
Jolie also underwent a two step procedure to optimize cosmetic appearance of breast reconstructions with implants. She has breast reconstruction done using the new teardrop shape implant plus the cadaver skin which gives more natural look.
Jolie who has six children adopted and biological with Brad Pitt said that she underwent this preventive surgery for her children. She did not want her kids to experience trauma of missing their mother at early age as she had experienced. This has been highly appreciated by lot of people in Hollywood as well as in medical science field. Jolie believes she has taken an empowering decision and in no ways this diminishes her femininity.
